India gets exemption from US sanctions imposed on Iran today

In 2015, the JCPOA Agreement between the Obama Administration and the Iran Administration was termed ‘Trump’ as ‘destructive’. This agreement, which included powerful European countries (P5 + 1), which still intend to retain this agreement, to curb Iran’s nuclear program and remove American restrictions placed on it.

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan has said that other countries including India, which import large amounts of oil, have been exempted from the restrictions imposed on Iran today. India has welcomed it. Pradhan said that India has been able to explain its approach to global leadership about a geopolitically challenging situation. He also said that the needs of countries which depend on Iran’s oil cannot be ignored.

The US said on November 2 that they would allow eight big nations to take oil from Iran. This permission is being given in spite of the restrictions that the United States has put on Iran again. The US has put fresh restrictions on Iran to curb this Gulf country’s alleged nuclear program.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, “The talks are still going on.” According to the agreement, the two countries will close the import of oil altogether and the remaining six will import oil in very small quantities. In May, US President Donald Trump pulled his step back from the Joint Comprehensive Program for Action (JCPOA).
