IND vs WI, 2nd ODI: Second ODI Tie between India and West Indies
New Delhi: The second ODI match played between India and the West Indies has been tied. After chasing the target of 322 runs by the Indian team, the Caribbean team’s batsman, Shay Hoppe, chipped the last ball of the match and leveled the score.
The second one-day match between India and the West Indies is missing on the tie. The Indian cricket team, batting first, scored 321 runs at the loss of six wickets in 50 overs, in reply, the West Indies were also able to score 321 for seven in 50 overs. This is the first match of India in the captaincy of Virat Kohli.
West Indies, chasing the target, needed 14 runs to win in the last over and the bats set on the crease took the aspiring match to the last ball. The Windies needed five runs to win the final ball, but Hop got the Umesh Yadav ball to hit the point by hitting the dip point and tie the match. Hope scored an unbeaten 123 in 134 balls.
Apart from Hope, Shimron Hetmyer (94) also played a fine inning and kept the West Indies in the game. Both of these innings were heavier on the innings of Kohli’s unbeaten 157 in a way.
In this match, Kohli has made two histories in this match. In the captaincy first tie match came his part, he became the fastest batsman to score 10,000 runs in ODIs. Apart from this, he has also become the Indian batsman who has scored the most runs against the West Indies. In both of these cases, Kohli left behind Sachin Tendulkar.
In addition to Kohli’s century, India scored a solid score of Ambati Rayudu with an innings of 73 runs.
Chasing the target, the West Indies team lost their three wickets at 78 runs. In which Kieran Powell scored 18 runs, Chanderpaul Hemraj 32 runs and Marlon Samuels scored 13 runs. Samuels and Hemraj got Kuldeep Yadav as his victim, while Powell, Mohammad Shami was dismissed as the West Indies’ first wicket.
After this, Hope and Hetmyer hit the Indian bowlers fiercely and continued to make runs. Both shared 143 runs for the fourth wicket. Hetmyer was close to the century, but his aggressive style gave him away from the century. Yuzvendra Chahal gets the upper edge of his bat in the hands of Kohli. Hetmayer’s wicket dropped to the total score of 221. He played 64 balls in his innings, seven of them hit six and four boundaries.
After the dismissal of Hatmyer, it seemed as if the West Indies would lose the match on the match, but Hope kept his hopes alive. However, Hope did not get any batsman strong with the other end.
In the end, Rowman Powell got 18, captain Jason Holder, 12 runs and Ashley Nurse returned to the pavilion 5, but Hope was left with a skip which took the match into the last over.
Earlier, Kohli chose to bat after winning the toss, but his opening pair returned to the pavilion only on Rohit Sharma (4) and Shikhar Dhawan (29) 40. Kohli and Raidu shared 139 runs here. Rayudu was playing well, but he missed a slow nurse’s ball and became bold in the attempt to swap the slog. Rayudu, who scored eight boundaries in his 73-ball innings, fell on 179 runs.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (20) could not even remove his poor form in this match. Debut by Obed McCoy, he bowled them to India’s fourth blow to total 222.
From here, Kohli continued to score runs from one end, but on the other end, young batsman Rishabh Pant (17) 248 was given the ball to be labeled LBW by Marlon Samuels. Ravindra Jadeja contributed 13 runs. He returned to the pavilion on the total score of 307.
For the West Indies nurse and McKay made two-two wickets in their names. Cameron Roach and Samuels took one wicket each.
