Again, the rupee recorded in the currency has surpassed 73 against the dollar
MUMBAI: In the Interbanking currency market, the rupee softened to 72.74 rupees per dollar and during the business 54 paise fell to Rs 73.04 per dollar.
The rupee’s exchange rate fell 54 paise to 73.04 per dollar on Monday on rising demand from importers’ dollar demand amid rising crude oil prices. Brent crude rose 2.04 percent to reach $ 71.61 a barrel. Traders said the pressure on the rupee due to the dollar demand of importers and the strong dollar against the other major currencies in the overseas markets.
In the Interbanking currency market, the rupee softened to 72.74 rupees per dollar and during the business 54 paise fell to Rs 73.04 per dollar. On Friday, the rupee strengthened by 50 paise to 72.50 rupees.
Traders said that the weakness of the domestic share markets also kept the pressure on the rupee. The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 48.39 points, or 0.14 percent, after rising in the initial trade.
